Summer is time for relaxing. Get outdoors. Go to the park. How about some chess?

Parking is not available at Roberto Clemente State Park during the summer program.

The weather can be uppredictable. Please check back here (www.chesstrm.org/NYC/) for latest updates. Weather report took a bad turn and “Fun” on July 9 was cancelled at 5:00 in the morning the day of the tournament. I could not call/email all so the ultimate resource was posting here on the website. Sorry for the super late call.

Games on the hour: 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00 Morning session.

Games on the half-hour: 2:30, 3:30, 4:30. Afternoon session.

Rated? Yes, of course. What better way to improve!! Play in the morning or the afternoon. Some may decide to play both.

Where: Roberto Clemente State Park, 301 W Tremont Ave., Bronx. Outdoors, on the stage just beyond the picnic area.

When:

  • July 23 “Sun”, TRM#317; AM ONLY PM ONLY BOTH
  • August 6 “Cool”, TRM#318; AM ONLY PM ONLY BOTH
  • August 20 “Hot”, TRM#319. AM ONLY PM ONLY BOTH

How to register: Use website www.chesstrm.org/NYC/ and locate the heading “Register Here”.

EF: Free. Open to current members of USCF. (On-site dues $9, good for one year.) Games will be played at 25 minutes per player with a 5-second delay (G/25;d5).

Groups will be divided into sections by rating (Under 300, Under 700, Under 1100, above 1100) for the morning sessions (4 games). Under 300 is limited to Grade 3 and below. Groups will be divided as necessary depending on the number of players (16 per group) for the afternoon session (3 games).
